“Orr Shalom,” is a non-profit organization, that has been operating in Israel since its establishment in 1980. It offers a variety of frameworks for children and youth at-risk (from all walks of life). Orr Shalom cares for children who have been removed from their homes by Social Services because they were abandoned, abused or severely neglected. Children who live on the street, children who have dropped out of other formal frameworks, children who show up at shelters for children at-risk, and children who have recently been removed from an abusive and destructive environment – can all find a warm home with Orr Shalom. The organization presently cares for approximately 1,300 children and youth at-risk, ranging in age from 0-18+ years old. [more information]
Who could not be moved by the thought of children being abused, abandoned or being neglected? It was for this reason that a group of like-minded people got together to form a registered charity British Friends Of Orr Shalom, in order to raise funds, and lend support to Orr Shalom Children’s Homes, in Israel.
Although we have already transferred thousands of pounds to Orr Shalom Children’s Homes in general, we have decided that in future, we will concentrate our efforts on a particular project – a Family Group Home in Mevasseret. To this end, we will be able to help fewer children, but with greater effect. [more information]
